Chat Themes and Alternative Color Options Rolled Out by WhatsApp

New chat themes which enables one to customize in-stream chats with colorful backgrounds and alternative chat bubbles has been rolled out by WhatsApp. So now you can create chat bubbles with a different theme which looks like basic customization when compared to what can be done in most of the apps. It is like using generative AI for creating new chat background based on text prompt.

WhatsApp has stuck to its generic green and black/brown color theme. They are also adding 30 new wallpaper options to choose from and you can also create your own. This is an interesting manner of adding fresh angle to discussions, adding new graphic overlays and colors for spicing up the conversation.

Same theme would be applicable to all the chats or specific settings for each conversation. So you are choosing chat themes which are only visible to you and you are not changing it for everyone as it is the case in some other messaging apps.

This way it would make things little more interesting for the app users but it would be great if changes could be applied to all users in the conversation. These themes would be available globally over the coming weeks. As part of the update, Whatsapp has come up with 30 new wallpaper options but users still have the option for uploading their own images from their gallery. These customizations can only be seen by users who applies them and does not affect the appearance of the chat for the other person in the conversation.

As part of the update, Whatsapp users will now be able to customize more than just their chat backgrounds. You can change the color of chat bubbles for matching their preferences. Whatsapp brings multiple pre-set themes which automatically adjusts both the chat bubbles and the background. Also, users also have the flexibility of mixing and matching elements from different themes for creating a unique experience.

For accessing WhatsApp customization options, users will now be able to navigate through app settings. For iOS, users will be able to customize individual chat themes by tapping chat name at the top of the screen. In case of iOS, users will be able to customize individual chat themes by tapping the chat name at the screen top. In case of Android, users will be able to access the option by selection of three dot menu within a chat and tapping of Chat theme. For people who are preferring a consistent theme across all the chats, these default themes can be applied by going to default chat themes via chats.

The feature is being rolled across the globe and would be available to all users in the weeks to come. This shows the commitment of the platform to offer enhanced design and customization options which lets users to personalize their experience and tailor app interface which suits their preference.

There are 22 default chat themes which pairs a wallpaper and chat bubble color which has been chosen for visual harmony. These color combinations have been designed to look pleasant and easy on the eyes and avoids harsh contrasts. Every theme has its own personality which ranges from bright and cheerful tones to neutral shades. They have been designed for clean and consistent look which improves readability which lets user express their style through subtle details and colors.

In case preset themes are not enough, Whatsapp lets users to manually change chat colors. Users get to choose from 38 different shades along with options for adjusting brightness. It lets users create appropriate chat set up with fine tuning colors to their liking.
