TikTok has launched a new AI powered feature which turns static image into video clip via TikTok story. It’s AI Alive option digitally animates static images and turns them into video based depending upon its image source.
With AI, TikTok has taken this new form of visual storytelling further where creators will be able to easily animate their photos and tell rich and visually engaging stories for their communities. AI Alive comes within TikTok Story Camera which uses Intelligent Editing Tools for transforming static images into short form videos which have been enhanced with creative effects and enhanced movement.
Even though results could vary but there are a variety of lifter options and tools which provide similar capacity on Instagram, TikTok and Snap. Though at times they look good and seem like actual video clip but things can also go haywire as things get weird and what might seem to be simple animation would turn into bizarre visual mutations. On the other hand, TikTok stated that most of the results created by the option would look good to use.
Another functionality which Instagram is looking to add is CapCut clone Edits which was previewed ahead of launch of its video editing app. We can use the new AI Alive feature within the Stories camera by clicking on the blue + on the top of the Profile page or Inbox and choosing single photo from the Story Album.
After you create and post your AI Alive Story, people will be able to view the story from within the For You and Following feeds as well on the profile page by giving followers number of ways for connecting with the content.
With AI Alive, brief video clip is created out of any still photo. It is available within TikTok Story Camera, where AI tool taps into AI to for automatically adding right prompt and transforming the photo. After the video gets generated, it can be previewed and post it to the story for everyone to watch on TikTok.
Given below are the steps on how AI Alive works:
- Firstly, download TikTok app for Android or iOS
- From the app, you can start AI Alive from either inbox or profile screen and depending upon which screen to choose, you can tap on the bottom toolbar for profile or inbox.
- Now tap the plus icon on the profile picture and at the bottom of the Add to Story screen, you can turn on the switch for Alive.
- Go and navigate through photo library and select the photo which you wish to use.
- By default, prompt is generated which states “Make this photo come alive” and then tap the arrow for submitting it.
- TikTok then chooses audio depending upon the subject or content of the photograph.
- A timer comes up to show how long the video would take to appear.
- For changing the audio and adjust or adding other elements, one needs to tap one of the icons on the right.
- With any story created in TikTok, one is able to add stickers, text or filters.
- When it’s ready, you can tap Your Story for publishing your video for others to watch.
The TikTok AI Alive feature is different from Instagram Boomerang where Boomerang loops into existing video clips. It transforms still photographs into new animated content and this is a representation of major technological leap forward.
AI is changing the digital landscape in a tremendous way and all the major companies are using it to bring about a change in the manner in which users are consuming digital material.
